Daft Punk confirms their long-awaited return by updating their Facebook page for the first time in a year. They posted a new logo and a banner photo with COLUMBIA at the bottom right, inferring that their new album will be released under Sony’s music label. Kaskade takes a stand for EDM and his beloved community. The LA Times released an attack onPasquale Rotella and (inferred) all electronic music events, claiming that safety measures are overlooked. They believe that generated profits and local-economic stimulation are the only goals/motives behind these events. Here is what they published, sparking an uproar in the dance music community.

Beatport and Shazam enter a partnership
EDM will grow
SFX Entertainment, headed by Robert Sillerman, purchased Beatport for a mere 50 million dollars. Before the deal, though, Beatport and Shazam had entered a partnership with one another. This will boost dance music discovery by making it more accessible to the public.
